If you're new to UCB
First, thank you for joining us - the entire United Church family welcomes you! The marquee in front of United Church says it all, and says it simply: "ALL ARE WELCOME". That is not just a slogan in use, it represents a genuine and warm respect we extend to all who choose to come and worship with us.
If you've never been here before, or if you've attended a few times, understand that for everybody you see in the sanctuary on Sunday morning, we have all been "first timers" at one time or another. Young, or young at heart, we assemble on Sunday mornings at 10:30 to give thanks and worship God.
Typically, a Sunday Service lasts for about one hour. A brief outline of what to expect at a Sunday Service follows (there may be slight changes from week to week):
A time to reflect, accompanied by a musical prelude.
Lighting of the Candles
A responsive call to worship (exact wording is in the day's bulletin)
Opening Hymn
Call to Reconciliation
Prayer of Confession (wording is in the day's bulletin)
The Pastor offers Words of Assurance
Gloria Patri
A "Ministry of Music" selection
The Message for all ages (children are invited to come forward for the message)
A Call to Stewardship with Offertory Music, followed by the Doxology and Prayer of Dedication
Second Hymn
Scripture Lessons
Sermon
Morning Prayer (responsive readings are printed in the bulletin)
Closing Hymn
Benediction
Postlude
The first Sunday of the month, Communion is served.
Following the worship service, you are invited to Fellowship Hall to partake in some tasty treats and to spend some time with others who will be pleased to spend some time with you.
The United Church welcomes you and we are glad that you have taken the time to worship with us!
